Among the raw prototypes and material explorations defining this year's showcase,
three designers stood out for their compelling dialogue between heritage, form, and sensory interaction.
From the dark industrial memory of coal mines to surrealist maiolica ceramics and meditative acrylic objects,
here is The Raw Paris curated spotlight from the heart of Le Marais.
1. Gilles Remy — Terres Noires
Concept: A material investigation revisiting the collective memory
and disappearance of industrial mining landscapes.
Editorial Note: Reimagining the daily tools of the working class,
a coal stove (le poêle à charbon), a coal bucket (le seau à charbon),
and an oil lamp (la lampe à huile)—into tactile, dark ceramic forms.
Remy converts forgotten industrial heritage into a quiet, grounded sensory archaeology.
2. Lilia Luganskaia — Kuilder (Ritual)
Concept: Translating the philosophy of Sogetsu Ikebana into interactive glass objects
and ambient light pieces designed for grounding.
Editorial Note: Featuring sleek, deep-gradient purple glass mirrors
and acrylic furniture that instantly alter the mood of a space.
Activated by presence, the interactive light piece emits a subtle 10-minute breathing rhythm,
an intentional pause offering radical deceleration amidst the fast pace of Paris.
3. Mac Makes Pots — Orto Botanico
Concept: A whimsical collection of terracotta frames and vases adorned with Mediterranean flora using classical Maiolica glazing.
Editorial Note: Injecting a sharp, surrealist wit into the gallery environment.
The arched mirrors framed in glazed lemon and orange terracotta tiles capture the warmth of Mediterranean light, bringing an effortless yet sophisticated contrast to the Haussmannian backdrop.
